Payment Policy

Payment Policy

Hamden Youth Hockey Association (HYHA) is a 501C(3) Non-Profit Corporation, and as such we try each year to keep our costs as low as we can each year. We operate a very tight and balanced budget that requires each family to pay their tuition on a timely basis. As a non-profit organization, we must fully recover the costs associated with the program.

To this end, our Payment Policy has been developed to reduce HYHA’s risk associated with the non-payment and/or delinquent payment of tuition fees, and to alleviate the administrative/cost burden related to the collection of tuition fees.

Account Payment - No Pay, No Play Policy

Players who do not maintain their accounts on a timely basis may be suspended in accordance with HYHA policy. Any player with an outstanding balance in excess of 15 days past a scheduled due date may not be allowed to return to his or her respective team until the balance is paid or satisfactory arrangements have been made with the program's Treasurer.

Outstanding Season Balance

Players that have past due tuition balances from prior seasons will not be allowed to try out until outstanding balances have been paid in full or satisfactory payment arrangements have been made with the association's Treasurer.

Refund Policy

Tuition refund requests will be considered only upon written request to the HYHA Board of Directors for cases of illness and/or injury that prohibit the player from participating in the sport of ice hockey for the balance of the hockey season. Any player wishing to withdraw from HYHA after his or her tuition has been paid in full, must do so in writing to the HYHA Board of Directors. Tuition refund requests will be granted on an individual case by case basis.

No refund will be granted for any reason other than the aforementioned, including, but not limited to, players leaving HYHA to join another organization, whether hockey or not; to play for a high school team; and/or due to dissatisfaction and/or problems with coaches, teammates, ice officials, and/or leagues.

In all circumstances, proof of exception must be submitted to the HYHA Board together with the request. The amount of refund, if any, will be prorated but in no circumstance will it be more than one-half of the tuition payments made to the HYHA. The time frame, in which a tuition refund check will be issued, if approved, may be subject to availability of program funds.

Without exception no refund will be granted for tryout fees and/or registration deposits for Travel Hockey Programs as all are deemed non-refundable.

Payment Issues

If you anticipate any difficulty in meeting the payment schedule, you are obligated to notify the program's Treasurer at the beginning of the season or if you know that you will be unable to meet a particular HYHA payment deadline.
