Mite Bs Lights Out

SIMSBURY - HYHA's Mite B team put on a performance to remember this weekend, crushing the Northern Lights Maroon team with an all around dominant game. “The kids really were flying today and having fun. When they’re all smiling I honestly don’t care what the score is.” said Coach James Carney. “But scoring is fun too.”

HYHA did indeed come out flying, led by a 4 goal game by Paolo Francese and a hat trick by Abby Carney. And rounding out the offense were Meave Oliver (recently featured as a Three Star player of the Day), and Chase McKinney. McKinney has HYHA roots across the program, with both a sister (Samantha) & cousin (Damon) who’s names currently sit on HYHA championship banners. “Every kid hustled all game. It was fun to watch.” added Coach Carney.  Oliver has a pair of HYHA older brothers (Liam & Seamus).

Once the second half started it was the team's defense that closed the door. Leading the way was a second half shutout performance by goalie Penelope Gorski. “She played awesome. She was stopping everything. And the whole team helped her.” said Coach Roland Langner. Helping on defensive zone pressure were siblings Charlotte & Mason Corilla. “They both skated their hearts out today.” added Coach Langner. The Corilla’s & Gorski were also aided by Bennet Langner (another Three Star player) and Finley Stringfield. Stringfield is another Mite B player with family ties across the program, with brother Landon currently playing on the Bantam AA team & sister Lila playing on DHS 12U A team.

Missing in action was Seth Durkin, having a great year on both sides of the puck. “These are the games Mite hockey is all about. Every kid left today wanting to come back and play hockey.” exclaimed Coach Carney.

“I think at this point Abby has more goals than Jim did in his career.” added an anonymous HYHA fan.

Great job Mite Bs.
