Hamden Youth Hockey Parent Manager Information (rev 08-Aug-2007)
HYHA parent manager responsibilities are listed below. Since it can be a fair amount of work Parent Managers are encouraged to solicit other team parents to volunteer.
Roster
Maintain and distribute the team roster with all player and coach contact information. Maintenance of the roster is accomplished through the HYHA web site. It is a very important task since changes to the schedule are automatically sent to team member email addresses. For those few parents without email addresses or regular access to a computer the roster is key to keeping in touch with the team.
Game Sheet Roster:
Using this same roster information parent managers fill in CHC game sheets with player names and numbers. Most parent managers now create printer labels with this information already listed saving time and effort.
Schedule Alerts
While the web site automatically alerts teams to schedule changes Parent Managers are asked to contact team members on last minute changes. Some parent managers provide their team with practice and game schedules. Encourage those few parents without regular access to a computer to buddy up with another parent to stay on top of schedule changes.
Binder
Each team is supplied with a team binder and will include a copy of the player's birth certificate, the team roster, blank game sheets, and competed USAH Waiver of Liability, Consent To Treat forms and both the USAH Code of Conduct and HYHA Code of Ethics doe each player. Please obtain copies of all your coaches USAH coaching cards (front and back) and add these to the binder. And lastly be sure to keep all copies of each game sheet that are handed to coaches at the end of the game. It is very important that the binder travel with the team.
Awards
Team Managers notify the HYHA Award Coordinator when a player earns a Hat Trick (3 goals) or Playmaker (3 Assists) or when a goalie earns a “Zero (shutout)”
Scorekeeping and Timekeeping
The game clock and scores sheet are two tasks that must be covered for all home games. Two people are recommended in the timekeeper's box: One person to run the clock and one person to keep the scoresheet along with running the visitor penalty box. A sample scoresheet will be provided along with instructions for running the clock. After each game, have both head coaches and the referees sign the scoresheet and mark down their respective ID card numbers.
There are (3) copies of the scoresheet.
White - This copy gets mailed in to the proper CHC division director by the winning team. A list of the division directors will be posted on the web site. Mail within five (5) days to the appropriate director.
Yellow – given to the winning team
Pink – given to the losing team
Jerseys
Bring both the Home and Away jerseys to each game. Hand out the jerseys before each game and collect them at the end of each game. Do not let the players take them home! Hamden Youth Hockey has an account at Dee's Cleaners on Dixwell Ave. (near Bally's Gym) where the jerseys can be brought to and dropped off for cleaning. You only need to drop them off and pick them up. HYH pays the bill (through your hockey fee's) Depending on the player's age group, this is anywhere from once a week to once a month. It is recommended that the shirts be removed from the travel bag and hung up to dry during the week.
Water Bottles and Medical Kits
Bring filled, clean water bottles to EVERY game. Water bottles should be washed after each game. Always bring the medical kit to every game.
Special Events
During the season, you may be contacted to hand out notices to your team such as meetings, events, picture forms, financial statements, tournament information and directions, etc.
