OK - Here is your opportunity to bring to life all those wonderful stories we always hear about at the rink. You know, the stories (the ones fit to print, anyways) about Hamden Youth Hockey, when you were a kid, the glory days, when it was all good.
This is the place where we'd like to keep a bit of our colorful and grand 55-plus year history. We are eagerly looking to gather stories, old newspaper articles, and pictures that will give current skaters, parents, and volunteers, a better sense of HYHA.
With enough interest we will divide the stories in to 4 sections: The 90's, The 80's, The 70's, and "The Ancient Times". At this time, we prefer to limit the stories to youth hockey. Stories about High School hockey will be accepted only as they relate to youth hockey. If there is suffucient interest a separate HS section may be established.
We are also hoping to establish a "Where Are They Now" section to help chronicle some of the success of our alumni - to give our current players a sense of perspective; how the experiences on the ice helped handle the experiences off the ice and outside the rink.
We will accept material for submission in any format - hard or soft copies - candids, team pictures, pictures that show the state of our rink when it opened. Originals will be accepted but not recommended as we can not guarantee their original condition upon return. Your contributions will be acknowledged on these pages unless you indicate otherwise. Softcopies of pictures and articles as well as first person accounts can be sent to the HYHA
. Hardcopies can be mailed to: HYHA PO BOX 5413 Hamden CT 06518.
The Board of Directors reserves the right not to post material which is determined not to be suited for a general audience. Some editorial discretion may be exercised prior to posting.
